Jewelry Care and Materials

CHOICE OF MATERIAL

Most of my jewelry is available in these variations:

  • 925 silver
  • Brass
  • 925 silver gold-plated or silver-plated

All chains, hooks and ear pins are made of hypoallergenic 925 silver , to ensure comfort and safety even for sensitive skin.

Choosing the right material goes beyond aesthetics: it also takes into account how your skin interacts with metals. For example, skin with an acidic pH or those who sweat a lot can accelerate the oxidation of brass, leaving temporary green stains on the skin—non-toxic and easily removed with soap and water.

If you have similar sensitivities, opt for 925 silver or the plated/plated versions. The silver I use is natural (not rhodium-plated) and hand-polished: over time, it may darken slightly, a natural evolution that makes it unique, just like brass, which "lives" in contact with the skin and the environment.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

My jewelry is handcrafted, a work of art meant to be worn delicately, not for heavy daily use. With a little care, it will last a long time.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water, perfumes, creams or detergents.
  • Store them in a dry place, in individual bags or boxes, away from humidity and shocks.
  • Keep them away from heat and direct sunlight when not wearing them.
  • To restore shine, use a soft microfiber cloth.
  • Oxidation is natural for silver and brass: it's not a problem, but part of their authentic charm.

Cleaning 925 Silver

Quick: Make a paste of baking soda and water, apply it with a soft cloth, rinse in warm water and dry well.

For severe oxidation: Soak in warm water with aluminum foil and baking soda (you'll notice a distinctive odor). Let it sit, rinse, and dry. Or use specific products like ARGENTIL.

For Gold-Plated or Silver-Plated Silver

Handle with extreme delicacy to preserve the surface layer: it is best to avoid aggressive polishes.

  • Clean only with a microfiber cloth.
  • For light dirt: soak for 10-20 seconds in warm water with a drop of neutral soap, rub gently with a cloth or cotton swab, rinse and pat dry.

AVOID baking soda, toothpaste, lemon, or abrasives: they risk removing the plating. If it wears away, contact me for a professional re-gilding—it's the best way to revive them!

Cleaning Brass

Quick: Lemon juice with a pinch of salt, apply with a soft cloth, rinse and dry.

For severe oxidation: A paste of white vinegar and baking soda, scrub gently, and rinse. To maintain shine, apply a thin layer of natural beeswax after cleaning.

Extra Storage Tips

  • Use cloth bags or sealed sachets to limit air and slow oxidation.
  • Stay away from perfumes, creams, chlorine or harsh chemicals.
  • Remove silver before spas or hot springs: the sulfur in the water will blacken it (clean it afterwards as directed).
